The friendship that has been dating for many years between the Municipality of Goražde and Gera has resulted in significant projects so far, and this cooperation continues. A new project in which the two cities will be partners is a project supported by the German government.
On that occasion, representatives of the Municipality of Goražde visited the period from 15th to 18th. January in Germany, where they participated in a workshop on the partnership development of local governments in one world.
One of the representatives of the Municipality of Goražde was Assistant Mayor Samira Drakovac, who said in a press release a little more about the project itself: ” We are in the period from 15th to 18th. January from the Municipality of Gorazde, together with representatives of civil society, visited Germany.
Since the Municipality of Gorazde and Gera have a long-standing cooperation going back 20 years, and certainly with our Association of Citizens with Cerebral Palsy and Dystrophy, they have given us great chances and opportunities to participate in this project set by the German Government . Namely, it was the first workshop concerning the partnership development of local governments of one world, organized by the Service unit for local governments of one world working under the Government of Germany.
Namely, this is the first workshop, to say a pilot project that has something new in view of the 2015 UN agenda for the 2030 Agenda for Global Sustainable Development Goals. The UN had 8 goals that addressed only underdeveloped countries, to provide a fairer world, a world without poverty, to provide conditions for a world that would give more hope and perspective to the entire planet.
Then in 2015, it was found that it was not enough and that it was not only a problem of underdeveloped countries, but that it was a global goal, so they expanded to 17 global goals and all countries of the world. Basically, Germany organized a pilot project that wanted to cover non-EU local governments in Germany and local self-government units in Eastern and Southeastern Europe. In addition to BiH, Serbia was also present in five cities and two cities from Kosovo.
In this way, the city of Gera and Goražde are partner cities and something that, independently of these goals, has proved to be a collaboration, a manifestation of common goals and problems and a closeness that exists regardless of the level of development, so we can say that this relationship has shown that this cooperation exists. that this Agenda exists, but this framework and opportunities give us a chance to continue this cooperation in the future, to have it institutionally established and to have the assistance of the German Government.
So this is about the project phases, equal cooperation with the exchange of experiences. This is a new project of interest to both the German Government and the whole world, the cooperation is for a period of 2 years and will last until 2018, with reciprocal visits from Gera to Gorazde, from Gorazde to Gera. would ensure that the Global Development Goals established by the 2030 Agenda are met.
What is interesting about Gera and Gorazde is the cooperation that was established earlier and can be further developed. The whole world is very sensitive to the marginal groups in society, which are socially sensitive categories such as children, the sick, the sick, the elderly, the elderly, etc. In this regard, Gera have strong experience. They themselves helped this Association from Gorazde which provided social employment and something that we conveyed on our own at these workshops, which is very interesting.
In this regard, we have also decided that our cooperation goes towards the goal of sustainable cities, developed local communities, which will take into account all these aspects of local development. On the other hand, we have a need to work together on the issue of climate change, and certainly that cooperation, which involves a broad set of actions, be it education, disaster management, social employment and other categories that can be extended to other areas.
In addition to Gorazde from BiH, we have 4 other cities participating in this project, namely: Sarajevo, Bijeljina, Zenica and Travnik. ”
